Reorganization Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, June 2, 2026
Board members present: Supervisors Kyle Vareberg; Brett Friesen and Mike Hough
Officers present: Clerk Becky Renner
Others present: Dale Renner; Shane Richard; Kevin Disse; Teaira Christen; Katherine Taylor; Kristina Carlson; Susan L. Prosapio; Thomas Jenkinson; Matt Arola and Wyatt Dunham
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. by Supervisor Friesen.
The election results were certified and the Oaths of Office were administered to Supervisor Mike Hough and Clerk Becky Renner by Clerk Karen Eifealdt on March 17, 2026.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, accept the following nominations for the 2026-2027 year:
Chairperson – Supervisor Friesen
Vice-Chair - Supervisor Hough
Road Supervisor – Supervisor Hough
Weed Supervisor – Supervisor Vareberg
Public Relations, Legal Affairs, and Courthouse Matters – Supervisor Vareberg
Clerk Renner presented proposed meeting dates for 2026/27 of keeping with the first Tuesday of the month. After reviewing the dates, a motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to continue meetings on the first Tuesday of each month, with the revision of meetings held from April through October be at 6:30 p.m. and meetings held November through March be at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to designate the D.L. Tribune, the Erie Town Hall and the Erie Township website as the locations of publishing and posting of legal notices as was discussed at the annual meeting on March 10, 2026.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to leave the designation of the bank up to the discretion of the board as long as it remains local as discussed at the annual meeting on March 10, 2026.
After a brief discussion regarding wages, which had been set significantly higher last year, a motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to keep the wages the same.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to set the mileage rate at $0 .725/mile in line with the IRS guidelines.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to increase the rate of animal bounties to $4.00.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to donate $12,500 to the Frazee Rescue Squad as was discussed and approved by the electors at the annual meeting on March 10, 2026.
A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, to hire Wyatt Dunham to repaint the outside of the Town Hall. The township will buy all materials, while Mr. Dunham has agreed to painting for $300.
There being no further business of the reorganization meeting, a motion was made by Supervisor Friesen, seconded by Supervisor Vareberg and carried, without a dissenting vote, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
